Which are the Major entrance tests for PGDM admission

Educational institutes play a very important role in shaping one’s career on the professional front. After completing graduation from top management institutes, students can see the change in themselves in the terms of the knowledge and professionalism they gain. PGDM colleges always prioritize the overall development of the student as much as academics. PGDM courses are opted by working professionals over any other post-graduation or master’s program. 

Let’s get back to the topic and try to know about PGDM Eligibility and Criteria for Admission. In most postgraduate courses, there are eligibility criteria for students to be able to qualify to take the course. The criteria of the entrance exam are not extreme, but make sure students should fit. Otherwise, students won’t be able to apply for admission. Here are the criteria: –  

  • Students must be graduate with more than 50% or more as their cumulative final score. 
  • A graduation degree must be recognized and from a government-approved university.  
  • In the final year of graduation, students can apply on a provisional basis.  
  • Students have to clear a competitive entrance exam required by the institute they are applying to.  
  • After the entrance exam, students may also have to clear a personal interview and group discussion round.

Let’s cover one by one all entrance exams. Nearly, all PGDM colleges are restricted by the score in the entrance test conducted by the respective Business Schools.  

  • CAT is the most accepted entrance examination for PGDM programs in India. It is conducted by IIMs (India Institutes of Management) for Admission to their 2-year post-graduate management programs. Several other top management schools accept CAT scores as their admission parameter.  
  • GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is an international admission test and these are valued by many Indian B Schools.  
  • The other major tests for management admission are IIFT by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, XAT conducted by Xavier Labour Relation Institute (XLRI). 
  • SNAP is conducted by Symbiosis International Deemed University, NMAT (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies Management Aptitude Test)is conducted by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council).  
  • MAT by All India Management Association, KMAT by Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association, and CMAT conducted by the autonomous body NTA (National Testing Agency) for entry into management programs across colleges/universities in India.  
  • ATMA is conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority and Association of Indian Management Schools respectively to manage admissions in several colleges under their jurisdiction.
